Anika Noni, an American performer and singer. Her most well-known character is Tiana, Disney's first African American princess. Rose was named an official Disney Legend in 2011. Rose appeared as Lorrell Robertson on Dreamgirls that won the Academy Award. Anika Noni Rose (born June 6, 1972) is an American actress and singer. She is most famous for portraying Tiana The Princess as well as the Frog's 2009 African-American princess. Disney Legends named her as one of them in 2011. She is also known for her starring role as Lorrell Robinson in the Oscar Award-winning Film Dreamgirls (2006) and for her role as the character of LaVerne Jukebox Ganner in the Starz series Power. Also, she is known for her performance in the theatre, particularly for her starring roles as Emmie Thibodeaux and as Emmie in The Broadway production of Caroline or Change (2004) for which she won the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Musical. She also played Beneatha Younger as part of the Broadway production of A Raisin in the Sun (2014) for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a play.
